2、sity ratio, which could cause some problems for the red clay roadbed, long-term strength and stability of the red clay embankment declined due to the wet and dry cycles in action and repeated traffic loads. This article
3、has taken the Yuqing to Kaili expressway subgrade materials for the study of the phenomenon of Red Clay roadbed.Based on the theory of engineering petrology and soil mechanics,to geotechnical engineering testing technolo
4、gy as a means, through field research, theoretical analysis, laboratory and field test to study the red clay intensity attenuation characteristics and evolution of the crack in the wet and dry cycle, revealing the perfor
5、mance of the red clay in the wet and dry cycles. Research has achieved the following results: (1)Finally got the variation law of the basic physical parameters and shear strength index of the red clay in the natural stat
6、e (2) Understand the rule of shear displacement and shear stress at room temperature and under high temperature by different times of wet and dry cycles, the relationship between shear strength and vertical pressure and
7、shear strength parameters (cohesion and internal friction angle) and water content the relationship between dry density and the times of cycles. (3) The results of the comparative analysis of the red clay shear strength
8、index at high temperature and room temperature and different times of wet and dry cycle. (4) The results of the evolution rules of red clay cracks under wet and dry cycle Research has important academic value on the red
9、 clay evaluation system which can improve the system, besides it has certain practical significance for highway construction of red clay regions, and to provide technical reference for other industries. Keywords: wet and
