4、tral and western areas of the country, is a typical agricultural cultivating area. Agriculture plays a very important role in national economy in the whole prefecture. However, in the long period, because of the conflict

5、s of the agricultural structure, agricultural development still lags behind the average level of the province as well as that of the regions inhabited by ethnic groups. Nowadays, under the background o

6、f “Western Development”, the author analyzes the natural environment for agricultural development in Enshi from the aspects of land and climate. It demonstrates the agricultural developing process from dif

7、ferent historical periods. According to the essential conditions of the agriculture development in Enshi, the author describes the present condition of the agriculture development and correspondingly puts forward so

8、me measures that should be taken in order to promote its agricultural development. The innovation of this paper lies in that the author tries to apply the historical methods to probe into the problem of
